The Challenge

DGMPRA conducts exit interviews with departing Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, generating valuable insights through audio recordings. However, manually transcribing these recordings was a laborious and time-consuming process, prone to errors. Additionally, the sensitive nature of the interview content necessitated a secure, on-premise solution.

The Solution: Nextria's CastleGuard AI

DGMPRA implemented an automated transcription platform using CastleGuard, leveraging the open-source Whisper model. This on-premise solution not only expedited the transcription process but also ensured the confidentiality of sensitive data.

Workflow:
  1. WAV Audio Upload: User securely uploads the WAV audio file to the air-gapped server.

  2. Transcription Initiation: User selects the uploaded WAV file and initiates the transcription process within the CastleGuard application.

  3. Transcription Extraction: User downloads the completed transcription in TXT format.

Technical Implementation

Hardware: Air-gapped Windows workstation equipped with an NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPU for high-performance processing.

Software: CastleGuard application with the Whisper transcription model.

Model Enhancements: Whisper, a general-purpose speech recognition model, was customized to support .WAV audio files and long recordings (over 3 hours).

Security: No intermediate transcriptions or logs are stored on the air-gapped workstation, guaranteeing the utmost security for sensitive interview data.
